At times, I wish I had a place I can go to that has no electronics so no one could ask for this or need this. I do feel I need to be available at all times as a blogger who works from home but I need to find a balance.
I work for another blog- Kelly’s Thoughts On Things, and I am available almost any time for questions, assignments, or web issues. I feel being a work at home blogger I need to be available all the time except while I’m sleeping. I do take breaks and seem to have a schedule- all day! However, during that time I’m also cleaning, laundry, cooking, and homeschooling. It’s all about how you balance it all. This year I’ve been planning when I do certain tasks and errands. Having a plan and sticking to it is crucial.
When we go on vacation, it is probably the biggest fail with this issue. My family would like me not to tweet, Instagram, Facebook our vacation, but 99% of our trip is a blogging sponsored trip so I have too! This year I need to set limits and allow for family and me time.
Here are some ways I can do that~
~ Stay Connected with friends! Go out to coffee or a drink, catch up on all the gossip. Don’t be on my phone- it will all be there when I get back home. I don’t have to be available 24/7. Take a BREAK!
~ If I need to get things done I stay off Facebook and Pinterest- giving me more downtime later since I did my required work first. Don’t let the Time Suckers get the best of me!
~ I need a SCHEDULE….I have a set time for people to know I’m online. I also need to schedule my downtime. If I don’t do that, then I tend to work from 6 am- 9 pm. My planner will help out a lot.
As much as I say I stick to this…I’m all over the place some days. However, in 2016, I’m going to be a bit more cautious of my time and make sure I’m not burning myself out- like last year!
