Write yourself a chores list
Having a list of household chores is a good way to help you figure out what needs doing in each room of the house. You can divide tasks up into the things that need doing daily, weekly and less frequently, such as those spring cleaning tasks that need doing at different times of the year.
Use a cleaning checklist to help you stay on top of your chores. You can spread them out across the week so it doesn’t take up your whole weekend to get your home back in order.
Set the clock
One way to save time cleaning each week is to put a timer on it! Set your timer for a half-hour or an hour and work to get as much done as you can in that time. You’ll be surprised at how productive you are with the time pressure, and it can help you realize that some tasks don’t need to take as long as they have been in the past.
Do a pick-up before bed
A quick tidy up before bed can make everything look and feel better in the morning. Clutter can make a house look messier than it really is, so if you spend 10-15 minutes each night clearing things away, you’ll have much less to do in the morning. Leaving everything pile up until the end of the week will only make the task take longer, so why not try to change the habit and keep on top of things during the week.
Vacuuming is something that can take a long time when you leave it to pile up for days at a time. Why not try vacuuming daily instead? A stick vacuum can help you make light work of the vacuuming – great for going from room to room with ease, and is ideal for stairs too. Do a quick whizz around your home every day to keep your floors looking clean and dust-free.
Make the most of your dishwasher
Did you know you can use your dishwasher to clean all kinds of things around your home? Some of the things you can clean in the dishwasher include plastic brushes, small wastebins, toothbrush holders, and more. That will save you some time scrubbing away!
While it’s important to maintain a clean home, it shouldn’t have to take up all of your time. Find ways of making the jobs quicker and simpler so you can enjoy your clean home on any day of the year.
