When I hit my 50’s, it finally hit me that I need to get into shape. I needed to get this extra weight off me, but I didn’t know how to do it. I didn’t know how but I needed to be healthier. I knew exercise was my biggest hurdle so that was my first conquest to living my best life.
- Bicycling wouldn’t be my first choice, but it was an option.
- Walking seemed to be my favorite choice.
- Then there is the gym which I’m a member of our local gym but never go.
I know myself enough that I need to do something I enjoy and be willing to do it regularly. So let me go through what I’ve decided to do.
Getting my workout in the GYM
Let’s talk about the gym! So not my favorite thing to do but the doable. I stuck to going once a week then increased each month, and by now, I’m up to 3-4 times a week.
Working out in a gym takes time to get used to but so worth it. I do have a tip that helped me out a lot- legion compression stocking. My legs don’t swell up, and they make me feel like I could go all day. I have never worn compression socks before, but a friend told me to give it a try, and I am so happy I did.
Ride Bike To Do Errands
When I have errands around town, I ride my bike now. It is easy enough to hop on my bike and ride out. Now I don’t go miles but enough to go to the store or post office.
One time I even rode to our local mall, and that was at least 2 miles. I was worn out after that ride but felt so good that I did it without dying! I’m joking.
One thing I highly recommend is biking gloves! My hands would sweat so much that I had to carry a rag, but I came across –https://bovemlife.com/. that carries biking gloves and much more for the bicyclist. I even gave my husband a couple of holiday gift ideas on the site.
Walking The DOG!
Now for my favorite exercise to do is WALKING! I enjoy walking my dog down by the marina in the morning before everyone gets there. I drop off my daughter at school and head right to my walking spot, right by the water. I love to breathe in the sea air and watch how calm the water is in the morning.
My dog loves it too. My pitbull’s name is Harley, and he gets his leash every morning. He knows its time for his walk when we are heading out the door. Amazing! After our walk, I give him a dog treat from Healthy-Chews.com.
My best health ever!
I don’t know why I didn’t start these simple exercises earlier in life. To be honest, I feel better now than I did in my 40’s that is for sure.
In my next 50 years, I’m going to be living my best life- HEALTHIER!
